I began intermittent fasting (IF) on Jan 13th.
April 11th was the 12-week mark. Hellooooo results!

I’ve received a ton of questions about IF. I’m working on a Quick Start Guide to break down how to get started, how to be successful, and address all the burning questions you have.
The gist of my 12-week body transformation was this:
Intermittent Fasting + Strength Training + Occasional Greediness = Results
A Cinnabon is 880 calories. I ate about six Cinnabons during my 12-weeks of Intermittent Fasting. That’s not including all the restaurant-ing I did. Starving yourself and not allowing for indulgences is NOT the Yum Yucky way to transform your body.
If you have a daily commitment to your fitness and eat healthy on most days of the week, there’s no dang reason you can’t enjoy your favorite greedy treats.
Intermittent Fasting is a sustainable approach to my fitness. I’m going to continue with it. It’s become habit and I like how it makes me feel. Look for the Quick Start Guide to be rolled out soon and please shoot me any questions you have. XO!

Thanks, Amber! I would say I’m gonna drop it like it’s hot, but my ass is too old for that now. Improper behavior & all.
Looking great! Give me one of those cinnamon rolls, too…

I can’t share mine, but I will gladly buy you your own. Rule #1 of proper Cinnabon noshing: “Never share”.
Amazing results! I recently started skipping breakfast (sort of) and eat a meal around 10:30 and then not again until early dinner with the kids. Nothing but tea/water after about 5:30. Lost six pounds so far. Going to keep it going.
I am uber-convinced that are our society is programmed to think we need to ingest more food than we actually need to. 5-6 meals per day is total bullcrap (for me, anyway).
OMG, you look fantastic!
Your results are so awesome you have me wanting to try it again even though it didn’t work all that well for me. Maybe I should have eaten more cinnabons! Yeah, that’s it!

Yes. Clearly that is where you messed up. Not enough Cinnabons. But don’t forget to throw in eating the equivalent of 3 entire pizzas over the course of those 12 weeks. Because that’s what I did. This entire IF thing is rather magical.
Can’t wait for that guide! Anything with those results is worth a second look.

My hands are busy typing! Can’t wait to roll this out. 🙂
You look great. I’ve never heard of this. What is a trusted source to read more on Intermittent Fasting? I’m curious because I’ve been having a hard time lately with whatever I try.

Hi Patty, you’ll get some good info from this article from Dr. Mercola. He goes into the medical science behind why it works.

Thank you so much love! 🙂
Wowza, great results, I’m def doing something wrong oh I’m not strength training. Can’t wait to read your guide.
LOL. Yes, pick up ‘dem weights. Train heavy.
Wow. I think i will have to look into this as a way to get my groove back in the fall. You look fantastic…and cinnabons. Nuff said. 🙂
I’m thinking of renaming this entire IF thing, “The Cinnabon Diet”. Makes total sense to me.
Definitely looking forward to your how-to post.
Late-night eating, even within 1-2 hours of ZZZs, is my main sin. My excuse is cuz I had a career of graveyard work shifts. But no more excuses. Among your good deeds, you have convinced me to endeavor to stop this, and to care about shrinking my gut, even at 58. Plus, Josie, you have earned all of our trust. So we trust you are not breathing in on the befores and breathing out on the afters. Just that your results are so great and you are such a role model, without acting better-than-thou.
Hey Mike. I used to be hardcore in thinking I “deserved” to eat at anytime of time of night. It’s still my God-given right to do it. But once you STOP eating every night at a certain time, you will feel sooo much better. I got adventurous and gave myself the freedom to eat a heavy meal of cheeseburger at 9pm the other day. Big mistake. Never doing that again. Was burping burger flavor at all hours of the night.
Whoa amazing results. I am feeling this and can’t wait to hear more about it. Gained 15 lbs after 40lb weight loss and need a kick in the a$$!
Hi Julie. Sending a swift kick-bootay your way! You can totally knock out those pounds.
wooohooo! WOW! You look fabulous, girlie!

I’m often doing two-a-days (or sometime three-a-days) right now at the peak of triathlon training, which means I’m eating a LOT. I may have to give this a try when things go down a notch though! 🙂

This sounds really cool (and a more realistic way of doing it than not eating any food for an entire day etc.). Definitely looking forward to the guide!

How long was your daily fasting period?
Hi LuckyMama. I started with 16 hours fasts in the beginning. Then I transitioned to to 18, 19 and (sometimes) a 20 hour fast. I go by “feel” for that day, depending on how hard I worked out that morning. But the minimum is always 16 hours. On average it’s 18 hours.
You look AMAZING!!!
I think I told you that I’ve done IF for years (I didn’t realize it had a name it was just what worked for me). Lately I’ve wondered why I have a bit more through my mid section and realized that this winter I’ve strayed from my normal (way too many days) so I’m getting back on my original plan – if it works why mess with it, right?!
Kim recently posted..Failing Is Just one Step on the Way to Success
Yes! I remember you mentioned your IF to me. IF’ing really does wonders very quickly for the mid-section in ways other healthy eating plans don’t in such a short time period.
AWESOMENESS!!!!! Look amazing!! I just like to eat too much – I can’t or I guess don’t want to do it BUT I still eat my treat cookies & do fine! 🙂

The proof is in the pudding – or in the puddle of cinnabon frosting that you get to lick up after the bun is gone.

OMG. Puddles of Cinnabon frosting! I love that way you put it.
you look amazing. This is the second time I have heard about Intermittent Fasting. How many days a week/month do you do it? definitely need to do more research about this.
Cassandre recently posted..10 Things I’m Looking Forward to Doing This Summer
Hi Cassandre. I fast 5-6 days per week (always 5 minimum). The extra 6th day (Saturday) is just a bonus. Unless, of course, we travel to da’ hood on Saturday morning for that plate of French Toast & sausage. No way I’m turning that meal down. 🙂
You look fantastic, I am impressed! Keep up the great job, and I am looking forward to your guide.
Hi Robin! Thank you so much!
You look amazing!!! I am not having these… or any kind of results with IF. Perhaps I’m doing it wrong. But you look simply fabulous!! Great work!!
Hi Cassandra. Sorry to hear the results aren’t as expected. How long have you been at it? For me, heavy lifting with strength training and reduced carbs on rest days is super important. I believe it’s contributed to my results. Just something to consider.
HA! Only 4 weeks! I know I need to be more patient! I’ve been doing the same — heavy lifting 4x/wk and carb cycling, but bodyfat levels have so far remained the same. It’s a bit frustrating. I’m going to give it a few more weeks, but if after that and some more tweaking there are no results, i’m going to have to move along.
YOU, however, LOOK AMAZING!!! I’m so happy for you!! Great work!!
Wow! Awesome results! Okay, I’m sold! *Heading out to get some pizzas and cinnabons*

(Ps. thank you for your response to me on your blog today. what you said means a lot)
OMFG! Maybe Cinnabon is the portal to the underworld! LOL! However, it looks like it’s done WONDERS FOR YOU! Seriously!!!!!!! Holy Hot damn, you’re YUMMY, not yucky, AT ALL!

You look awesome! Great results using IF. I’m totally impressed with all your before and after photos. You should be proud. I’ve just got back to the Gym and Yoga Studio in February after a 7 month break. I gained 20 pounds of 35 lost last year (hanging head in shame). Getting my eating under control is paramount. I now do yoga 3x and weights 2x a week with some cardio when I can. What is your basic workout routine? How did you lose your initial 40 pounds?
Just found your site when I looked for Yoga DVD reviews. Lots of great information here. Will look forward to your guide on starting IF! I am finally coming around to the eat and exercise to have the body you want mindset. Not the eat what you want and exercise ONLY because you need to lose weight mindset.
Will check out the rest of your site ASAP.
Wow. Congratulations on your achievements! That’s really impressive and quite motivating. I will try your IF method as soon as I come back from my holidays. 🙂

Question-When you you enjoy your yummy indulgences? Do you “save” those for non-fasting days or eat them when you choose?
Wow! You do look amazing!
I love the idea of IF, I’m such an all or nothing person, I find it easier to have nothing than to try and ‘control’ my eating! So I can enjoy what I’m eating know that my next fasting bout is only for ‘so many hours’.. much less stressful way of life!
I’m really looking forward to your getting started guide, any idea’s when it might come out?
Kim
Hi Kim. Today on the blog I’ve announced launch date info (Monday, Sept 15th) and details about what the free Guide will include. Thanks so much! ~ Josie
Finally, someone who thinks like me. I agree, later for all those high priced, mind controlling marketing diets. This has got to be a way of life and adding daily movement is a plus that a lot of people try to get out of doing. Thanks for the encouragement and I loved the upbeat, spunky presentation. Keep up the Great work.
