My buddy Amber’s Whole 30 before and after results are fantastic. Just take a look at her…
I have other friends who have also done this free, 30 day program with wonderful results. I asked Amber to come here today to share details about Whole30 to help you decide if it’s right for you. So let ‘er rip, Amber! (…but please, no farting allowed)
Do you ever feel super bloated after you eat, like you’re 5 months pregnant with a burrito baby? Or maybe you really need a nap after lunch and fight passing out at your desk? Do you get headaches for no reason? Do you have skin issues? Do you have IBS or other tummy troubles? Do you feel like your sugar cravings control you? Do you have trouble sleeping? Do you want to lose weight? If you answered yes to any of these questions, the Whole30 Program may be for you!
So what is it? The Whole30 is a free 30 day program with a focus on nurturing your body with whole foods and dealing with your relationship with food. As described on the website:
- Eat real food: meat, seafood, eggs, tons of vegetables, some fruit, and plenty of good fats from fruits, oils, nuts, and seeds.
- Avoid for 30 days: sugar (of any kind real or artificial), alcohol, grains, legumes, dairy, and carrageenan/MSG/sulfites.
So why the heck would anybody do such a thing? Certain things you’re eating could be producing negative effects in your body, but how would you ever know? Stop eating them! Take 30 days and let your body take a break from whatever those foods may be doing to it and let yourself heal. During those 30 days, you will also be forced to deal with the psychological side of eating.
Are you an emotional eater? Do you mindlessly finish your kid’s meals? Are you addicted to sugar? I have to admit, the Whole30 is hard! It takes a great deal of willpower. I also usually have to suffer through a few days of carb withdrawal at the beginning. Meal prep is key, which can be time consuming and exhausting. Going out to restaurants, parties, or other social situations is extremely difficult. And not eating cheese for 30 days?! Lord have mercy! But it is only 30 days and it is so worth it.
The Whole30 has taught me which foods my body thrives on. Every time I do one I lose weight (6-12 lbs), my skin is radiant, I have abundant energy and don’t “food coma” after lunch, I sleep like a rock, and my tummy never feels bloated or gassy. I also always feel so empowered!
Turning down free treats at work, avoiding booze, and kicking that sugar dragon to the curb feels really good! And then afterwards, it is easy to see just how certain foods affect you. I now know just how bloated I get from eating gluten and that beans are risky for me in social situations. My friend recently eliminated the horrible IBS symptoms that she had been dealing with for over 10 years by doing a Whole30 and changing her diet!
I highly recommend giving the Whole30 a try. You never know… it might just change your life.
