Easy Food Prep Ideas for Flat Abs

My flat abs food preps were born from a yearning desire to spend minimal moments in the kitchen while optimizing the lazy time. Can you rally behind a concept like that?

The fatty parts could melt faster to help you on your way to a sleek midsection when food prep is going on. There’s less chance for eating the wrong foods when you plan & prep ahead of time. I’m all about living the nifty, non-stress kind of life. Come join me in this extravaganza of simple food prep ideas…

SUBMERGE & SIMMER YOUR BREASTS

It might sound weird, but here’s what to do…

Cut up the chicken, submerge in a pot of boiling broth, turn down to medium heat and sprinkle in your desired seasonings. The breasts will be done in about 10 minutes. Faster than baking! If you have more time, a slower simmer will infuse even more of the tasty broth & seasonings into the chicken. Use your chicken preps for sammiches, salads and just about anything else you can think of. But don’t boil the heck out of the meat. Not unless leatherized body parts of chickens is on your menu.

THE SWEET LOOK OF FLAT ABS

Courtesy of a sweet potato! Even the largest potatoes will work. They can easily be split in half after cooking for two day’s worth of meal preps. You can boil the potato or bake it. The skin will fall right off when it’s done, so no need to worry about peeling. I like to eat my potato plain, but cinnamon and nutmeg taste epic on it, too.

VEGGIES IN BULK

Let’s use broccoli as an example. I’m not ashamed to tell you that I sometimes use frozen broccoli instead of fresh. It’s ready to cook whenever you are without the threat of becoming brown & shriveled in the back of your fridge. In the pic right here, I cooked up enough for an entire week, then incorporated the broccoli into my breakfasts and lunches. I’m living ‘dat veggie life, yo.

SO EASY IT MIGHT SEEM FISHY?

No need to give me the side-eye treatment. It’s actually is pretty darn fishtastic. Cajun Baked Tilapia takes less than 5 minutes to prep and will bake itself while you’re in the other room doing ab exercises ‘n stuff. And will you look at that! Here’s my Tilapia paired with the sweet potato and broccoli. Looks real fancy but its freakishly simple. (click on the pic to enlarge the freakishness)

I’m a big fan of the frozen veggie. It doesn’t languish in the vegetable drawer and it cooks up quick!

Frozen veggies are okay as long as what is frozen is not processed (chemical additives). I buy kale in bulk and put it in the freezer so that it keeps longer. Freezer is not harmful unless it is done for long periods of time. Yeah to the veggie life.

Never thought of doing chicken that way! Cool idea.

Sweet potatoes and yams are such a great food. So is quinoa and fish. Those are staples in our diet.

We always have frozen veggies on hand. I only go to the grocery store once every 3ish weeks so I like fresh produce early on and then we use frozen!

I love frozen veggies. I usually keep a few on hand when I cook during the week. A back up to the fresh ones that I have. Great list and yup, that is the easiest and fastest way to do chicken.

  9. I’ve never cooked chicken that way. And I find that I purchase more frozen veggies to avoid them spoiling and throwing money in the trash.
