Sandbagging and Body Pumping: Please Don’t Tell My Husband, He Doesn’t Need to Know

I have secrets to share and you can NOT be tellin’ the Health-hater Husband. Okay?

I already mentioned that my 39th birthday is coming up fast, so I started buying myself gifts ((insert sinister laughter here)). Shhhh! If the husband knew, he might say I already got my gifts. Shhh, I said! If we all just keep quiet about this, I’ll get extra gifts that HE buys me, too. muwhahahahhaaaa!

So in honor of Home Workout Whoredom and the wonderment that goes along with it, I bought two awesome tools that I wish the mailman would hurry the hells up and deliver to me faster:

First, the VersaFit Sandbag

versafitbag Sandbagging and Body Pumping: Please Dont Tell My Husband, He Doesnt Need to KnowThe VersaFit Sandbag comes in 10-pound, all the way up to 50-pound weighted options. I chose the 40-pound sandbag. This thing goes behind your neck and rests on both of your shoulders. It’s gonna take my squats, lunges and step-ups on the bench to the next level. You can also perform swings and other dynamic weighted movements. I’ll shoot some video of me using it once I get the hang of it, so stay tuned.

Next, I purchased PUMP

pump Sandbagging and Body Pumping: Please Dont Tell My Husband, He Doesnt Need to KnowI’ve been hearing about this awesomeness for years, and Beachbody recently teamed up with Les Mills for this in-home PUMP workout series. BodyPump is literally a worldwide movement. They offer it at a gazillion gyms, including mine, but I just can’t seem to ever get there. So I bought the system and I’m ready to Pump it to enhance the muscle definition in my body.

I’m Beachbody Coach to some of you already (howdy, ya’ll!), but EVERYONE is welcomed to explore PUMP in my Beachbody shop to see if it’s right for you. Here’s a PUMP video snippet that pretty much sums up why I’m so dang excited to start doing this program for the sculpting of sexy woman-muscles. I’m gonna look so hawt this summer.

So there’s my birthday shopping secrets! I highly doubt the husband will read this post, and I know my secret is safe with you. ((wink-wink))

  10. anabels says:

  11. @somerskys says:

DEAREST JOSIE! OR @yumucky WHY WOULD U WANT THE SANDBAG THINGY INSTEAD OF THE VersaFit Vest. I AM LOOKING AT BOTH OF THESE BUT DONT KNOW THE PLUS OF ONE OVER THE OTHER, OR IS THERE? SUCHA THING. IS IT JUST A PREFERENCE AND NOT AN PHYSIOLOGICAL REASON ONE IS BETTEROR WORSE???? THANKS FOR CLEARING UP THIS DILEMMA:’D

    • Yum Yucky says:

hey lady. It’s just a preference. The sandbag will allow for more versatility — I can both wear it ’round my shoulder and remove it quickly to swing it. I tend to sweat a lot, so I don’t think a vest would be ideal for me. I think I’d a least need to try a vest on first (at a sporting good store maybe) to see how I feel being “constricted” somewhat while performing my exercise moves. the sandbag give me more options and freedom.

      • @somerskys says:

@Yum Yucky, ooh, otahay! thanks josie for clearing up that workout dilema, so quickly!! U R NOT ONLY BEAUTIFUL, U BE PROFESSIONAL ALSO i wish my workmates were as punctual, they are awsome! just not as punctual :’)

  12. merri says:

Oooh that sandbag thing!! Ive been having trouble in bodypump because during my squats, the bar is killing my shoulders. It’s not even supposed to be working my shoulders, yet the bar digs in. a sandbag thing like that looks waaay more comfy. Too bad we have to use the bars in class. And speaking of bodypump, your pump thing. Ya I mentioned to you on facebook that I do bodypump and really like it, I’m sure you will too. it would be interesting if you’d ever done it at the gym to see the differences between the home and gym ones and which you prefer. Right now It’s easier for me to just go to the gym class, but if that changes, and I move to a place ever where it’s harder and I have actual space to work out at home, I’d def consider it. I love how, even though I’m not a big fan of most of the songs, the exercises move so well choreographed to the music, cuz I am so musically focused.
