Salma Hayek’s Bug Diet

Good ‘ole greedy Salma. Had I known about this sooner, I’d have hired her hungry self to eat up those bastard termites that were infecting my house. Instead, we paid a bug slayer. But maybe somebody else can get Salma to eat up their ants, or dirty cockroaches, or silverfish, or whateva.
From Diets in Review: Salma Hayek’s Bug Diet
In yet another edition of “almost too disgusting to be believed,” Salma Hayek has confirmed that she enjoys eating bugs. While appearing on an episode of the David Letterman Show, Hayek confesses that she often dines on ants, worms and grasshoppers. The Mexican native said, “…the eggs of these little ants, fried, are amazing, with a little guacamole. And the worms… there are many, many different recipes for these.”
Adding that worms, ant eggs and grasshoppers are excellent sources of protein, she continued, “The little grasshoppers, they have a smoky flavor to them. I think it’s the way they cook them, and it’s really good.”
Could this be the key to her slim figure? I think I’d rather have a protein shake. Or even a steak.
In general, Hayek doesn’t have a “diet,” instead, she watches what she eats and minds her portion sizes. In the past she’s been connected with Diet Designs meal delivery program.

I’m following the same diet…not! What’s wrong with her? Come on, did she expected to believe she eat bugs?
Maybe, if the bugs are surgeons…
Come on. Just…come on. I can see the next fad coming: A Bug’s life, Eat worms, Bugs, Dirt and be fit, by Salma.
People, really. Come on.

Insects are a delicacy in many cultures now. With roots tied to accessibility (limited food resources, so they had to get creative). I love exploring various food customs, but I’ll have to pass on this, lol.

I would have to agree with @Madame. Eating bugs in many cultures is something that happens. I wouldn’t want to try it but bugs actually have many nutritional benefits. I had to review a paper about Laos where they were breeding bugs to help curb their country’s hunger problem

Sick! This is no diet for me. Although I will have to admit that when I was in Brazil, I ate ants. The group we were staying with made this large fest with non the less, a large bowl of ants. The weirdest thing was that they tasted like orange peels. That was the last of my ant diet!

I have eaten many gross things so as to impress my date and not offend the chef. I have not eaten ants etc. but I cannot rule it out in the future. Exoskeletons must be a great source of fiber.

Lots of cultures eat that stuff but I can’t bring myself to even try it! Saw a show on a candy maker in the states that covers tham with chocolate & other toppings… NOT FOR ME!

I couldn’t do it. When I was in china people were eating bee pupa. Uhhh…no thanks. I don’t care how rude it seemed. I would have thrown up.

Ew. Well, when I was a kid, my aunt always teased me that we were having chocolate covered grasshoppers for dessert… people do eat this stuff. I just don’t see myself ever wanting to.
