Tasting! Gardenburger Portabella Veggie

I didn’t give a damn about Gardenburger Portabella. My E. Coli-free beef burgers (from the Amish) were already on the grill. But that obviously was not good enough for Faux-Vegetarian.

I had to take my azz to the store and get special burgers for my guest – the same chick I asked for chick peas and she gave me only one. One frackin’ pea!

So these are not cow patties. They’ve got Portabella and crimini mushrooms. Brown rice and spinach. Rolled oats and onions. Mozzarella and oat fiber.

Ummm, wait a minute. These sound greedy-good.

Faux-Vegetarian ate one patty. I kept the rest for work……and then fell in love (with the patty, not my job).

There’s so much flavor and hungry goodness! Every single ingredient stands out with fresh, delicious taste. The patty is nice and hearty from the consistency of the brown rice and they cook up quick and easy. Just micro-zap for 2-minutes and let it meet the bun.

I’m totally sold on Gardenburger Portabella and already bought some more. So don’t be a beef snob, okay? Try the vegetarian burger.

Important Note: I saw Faux-Vegetarian eat a cow patty the very next week. And I hope she does not read this post.

Well, they sound a little pricey. How many for the 4 1/2 bucks? But anyway, ‘rooms AND mozzarella? How can that go wrong, in any time/space dimension? Now you got me hungry :( Air-popped popcorn, here I go

4 patties. So basically $1 each. A pretty cheap lunch considering I spent $7.50 yesterday on a crappy cafeteria lunch.

Hmm I’ve not tried these…though do love a regular…real…huge portabella mushroom marinated…then grilled…then topped with a bit of cheese and then placed ever so gently between a warmed bun.

There are the words ‘veggie’ and ‘garden’ in this burger. Me no like.

I love me some meat, but you sold me. They sound yummy. I’ll keep an eye out next time I’m at the store.

BTW, I have a Faux-Vegan friend who makes me cater to her but then I see her eating various non-vegan foods on other occasions. Errrr. . .

I don’t know about this. If I want a good portable burger I’ll just toss a giant shroom on a bun with some cheese. MMMMM

Linda May 11th, 2010 at 11:27

hmm…I might try these. Can you cook them on the grill?

If the Pink Panther in a karate suit recommends it… that’s all I need to know.

I love those!!! The black bean chipotle is really good too and so is the tomato basil flavor!

I love the black bean burgers too, though I prefer Morningstar Farms’ version. I’m a vegetarian (real one! I swear!) but I absolutely hate mushrooms. It seems like most commercial veggie burgers are heavy on the shrooms, but I’m usually safe with the black bean ones.

I’ve never tried the tomato basil. I might have to give it a go…

LOL!! When I saw this review my first thought was, doesn’t sound like food on Y.Y’s fav list. What a nice surprise! Try a Morningstar Chick patty some time if you feel like it. They’re also a pretty good phony food :-)

Hmm…I’m a big fan of the Grillers Prime from Morningstar Farms, but maybe I’ll give these a whirl sometime!

Yeah, I’d try it. I love the ‘shrooms. Bonus: I wouldn’t have to worry about the rest of the family eating them. The are not the veggie type at all.

These sound good, I might try them. I’m not a vegetarian but I do like veggie burgers sometimes. Although when I buy them at the store, I need to eat 2 or 3 to even feel slightly kinda full. I like portabella mushrooms even tho Im not generally a mushroom person. How did she only give you one chickpea? That’s not even a bite..
My sister is a vegetarian and my mother has to cook her separate things when they have meals together which wouldn’t be as hard as it sounds, except that she also doesn’t like veggies lol.

I would totally try these. I love faux burgers!

This is funny because I have tried nearly every vegetarian burger on the market, but the portabella one is the ONLY one I really enjoyed. *mental note to go buy some more*.

Thank you for visiting my blog! I just wanted to clarify. I want to work out 3x a week. While I may not always like exercising I want to do because I love how I feel after I workout. I feel beautiful and healthy. That is what keeps me going. The whole NO CHOICE thing is a Beck diet skill. It is just to help me to workout when planned instead of being lazy or making excuses not to do it, which happens more than I would like. I hope I am explaining this well enough. I just wanted to let you know that I’m not forcing myself to do something I don’t want to do. I want to do it but sometimes that want fights with my desire to be lazy. I hope you have a wonderful day!

I just spent a week eating rice and beans and other Costa Rican foods. It was good and all, but we went to get burgers as soon as we left the airport. E.coli cow burgers though…so the story doesn’t really apply. But still..

I just came across your site and thought I would chime in on your post.  I went meat-free for four months for a cleanse I did and I came across these Gardenburger Portabella burgers.  THEY ARE AMAZING!  Very delicious with a nutty flavor, and very savory.  I prepare them in a pan by slightly spraying each side with a little cooking spray.  I cook until browned on both sides.  Meanwhile in another pan, I sautee an onion.  Also, I toast two slices of Ezekiel bread (gluten free) until lightly toasted.  I then assemble the entire sandwich with low-sugar ketchup, sauteed onions, a slice of swiss or vegan cheese, 1/2 an avacado sliced, and a slice of tomato.  MMMMM, it is so delicious.  I am now back to eating chicken and beef only a couple times a month, but STILL prefer this garden burger over a meat patty ANY DAY OF THE WEEK!!!
