Tasting! Wheatables Nut Crisps

Wheatables

If I was real cheap I’d make these at home by myself. The instructions? Smash some almonds with a hammer, glue the beaten bits onto a tasty cracker, then chew. <—please don’t do that in real life.

So you’re getting the visual, right? Wheatables Nut Crisps are stoned-ground wheat crackers with a chunk-nutty infusion of nice sized almonds bits. The cracker is pretty dang good all by itself. It has the perfect touch of salt and a nice crunchy-crunch, but the roasted almonds bring it on home.

Too bad it’s a tease.

I want MORE infusion! MORE almonds! MORE nutty flavor! Either I’m being greedy or it could really use a tad more nuts? The strength of almond flavor is not consistent from cracker to cracker. Sometimes a bit faint; sometimes just right.

But behold. Nut Crisps are still flavor-dangerous because they encourage chain eating; sorta like chain smoking, except it’s non-stop food eating. Despite my insatiable demands for more nuts, I like these lots.

Wheatables Nut Crisps are definitely worth trying.

Reactions from the Taste Test Crew

Health-hater Husband: It’s alright. I can taste the almonds, but it’s nothing special.

Greedy Kid #2: Yeah, it’s good. The almonds in the cracker are a good idea.

Greedy Kid #3: I don’t want it ’cause I just ate grapes.

Yum UP! to: MORE nutty flavor. Please?

Yuck Down to: Chain smoking glue eaters.

I’m almond nut-challenged. When I eat whole almonds I cough and hack and cause a disturbance…

I agree what is the point of nut flavored crackers? I feel like companies have nothing better to do sometimes than make pointless flavors. :P
I’d rather have nuts. Almonds rock!

I am also almond nut challenged….maybe these crackers are the solution haha

I’d definitely want more nutty flavor, too. I hate crackers that profess to have yummy stuff in them but just taste like crackers. Nuts, I want nuts, damn it!

They look good, but I need to stay away from crackers that are like crack. lol

I’d rather have the nuts than the crackers too. just saying.

Really what is the point of these crackers? Just so they taste like nuts? I would rather just have the nuts

By any chance is there high fructose corn syrup in it? HFCS seems to be in everything! I’ve been very disillusioned lately.

It would make more sense to just eat nuts, but maybe with a little cheese they’d work.

LOL, you crack me up!!! Thanks for the review! Not that I could even DREAM of trying something like that (I can’t chew/bite due to oral surgery & new braces at the moment)

Yum! Almonds are my favorite. I always loved the Multigrain Wheat Thins but I can’t find them anywhere within a 50 mile radius anymore. Just like how all the stores around here stopped selling Kashi Summer Berry Granola. Ugh!

Pink Panda February 2nd, 2010 at 23:35

They actually look decent, although 3.60 is a pretty hefty price for crackers.

i like the nut thins that blue diamond has started selling. they’re pretty decent, especially for those of us who are looking for wheat alternatives.

LOL, I love kid #3′s response. For some reason these sound like they would be good with goat cheese (or cream cheese) and a drop of jam.

Sounds tasty. I really like almonds and almond butter… although I cant eat too many almonds. I wonder how almond crackers with almond butter would be? Overkill?

[Reply]

Rachel February 5th, 2010 at 11:06

I gotta go with child #3 on this one. Clearly wheatables and grapes do NOT mix.

Chris February 14th, 2010 at 16:44

For whoever said they like crackers & almonds- Try Tru North’s Almond Crisps. They rock. Hard.

I really love goat cheese desserts, their are awesome. If I have guests, I just make goat cheese deserts and they love it. Are there any other good uses for goat cheese?

Very delicious and I’m happy about the Stone-ground flour. But why did they have to go and add high fructose corn syrup!!?? What a way to ruin a good thing.

My daugher (31) and myself (52) find the Roasted Almond very flavorful. I went looking to have some and had to look in her room. Got two boxes this time.

I only buy them at Big Lots when they get them in, they cost $1.50 without tax.
