"Tasting!" Oreo Dipped Delight 100 Calorie Bars

Oreobar

“What’s up with the fake healthy crap?”

.

Yes, I know. Just because it’s a measly 100 calories doesn’t mean it’s good for you. But wait! Chomping on an Oreo Dipped Delight Bar could save you from an accident. The kind that causes you to ingest an entire sleeve of cookies.

Each 3-inch Bar is tasty chocolate-covered goodness. Take a bite and get a glimpse of it’s soft, cakey center and slight crisp rice crunch smathered in a layer of Oreo creme. The taste is only slightly reminiscent of a real Oreo cookie, but it’s still got a good thing going on.

Sugar is the main ingredient, but I’m happy to see Whole Grain Wheat Flour and Oat Fiber on the nutrition label. High Fructose Corny-ness is NOT listed as an ingredient.

Dipped Delight is perfect for chocolate lovers and a magic trick to put your sugar yearning in a choke hold. You can eat a bar and get on with the rest of your day without causing an extra 5 pounds of greedy guilt to hang over your pants head. Or feed it to your kids if you want them to quit whining for a minute. I guarantee you golden silence as they chew.

Reactions from the Taste Test Crew

Health-hater Husband: Chewy. Smooth. Hint of crispness. I don’t like chocolate bars, but I like this.

Greedy Kid #1: Eh, I don’t wanna try it.

Greedy Kid #2: It kinda reminds of a Special K Protein Bar. (yep. he’s right)

Greedy Kid #3: I need more and I don’t want to wait for it.

Yum UP! to: Trading in one piece of crap for a healthier piece of crap.

Yuck Down to: Accidentally ingesting 10 cookies. It happens.

They do look delightful.

Nope! I am NOT even going to try them…because they will not be 100 calories, they would be 600 for the box, that is how many I would wind up eating! :)

Ooops. I know what you mean. I accidentally ate two. But I was, uh, working. A career in Taste Testing has many hazards.

i’ve been sucker punched by those 100 calorie snacks before. LOL. i would buy the variety pack and by day’s end, i would have eaten a minimum of 3 or 4.

I’ve tried and liked! The nutter butter ones are really good, too!!

Joanna November 2nd, 2009 at 7:58

I would have polished off the entire box!

They look good! :D I’m not gonna get them either, so I don’t know what I am missing :P

I like your point of using them as replacement for something less healthy. Yes, they may not be super healthy, but if you truly like the taste and they satisfy your craving for something sweet, I think that’s great. I love you greedy kids’ reviews… :)

Thank goodness I am not a fan of this type of stuff! It does look good though!

Yes. I want those in my belly.

Josie November 2nd, 2009 at 9:35

They may count as “frozen” because husband put them in freezer by accident. He thought they were ice cream. Had to thaw. LOL

Yeah, I always eat more than one of 100 cal anything. That kinda defeats the purpose!

SkippyMom November 2nd, 2009 at 10:10

Did Marissa say Nutter Butter too? mmmmmmmm.
I still like regular oreos – they are my fav’ cookie – although I can stop at three because I hate the way they make my teeth feel.

Man, I love the practical edge in this post: ‘If you’re going to succumb to cravings, do so elegantly with something marginally healthier than what you might otherwise eat’, but I find that the BEST option is simply not to have any bad food in the house.
True, I end up fuming as I chomp down on carrots, wishing for exactly this kind of product, but I’d be liable to eat the whole box!

I really think you can do so much better for 100 calories than these. An apple is 80 calories, or a small square of dark chocolate. These are also really expensive for what they are and I don’t think they really replace Oreos.

Eh, but I don’t want an apple right now.
Yep, only “slightly reminiscent of a real Oreo” is what I mentioned in the Taste Test.
I consider this low cal, “be bad” fun food without really being bad or totally blowing it.

And yet another item to put on my must have, er, I mean, grocery list!

100 cal packs work for me in a pinch. I have this psychological aversion to opening the second one, whereas I’ll chow through an open bag of anything without thinking. However, I usually just have a hershey kiss or two (have you tried the new pumpkin spice ones? mmmmm….) and that does me for 25-50 calories.

these silly 100 cal piles of junk are getting out of control! they have a 100 cal version of EVERYTHING these days. gimme a luna bar and i’m GOOD! no oreo mess for me girl!

[Reply]

Josie November 2nd, 2009 at 18:32

Oh yes. I will always be Looney for Luna. Gimme Peanut Butter Cookie, but the dang Luna selling store (Trader Joe’s) is 20 miles north. Aargh!!

Think I’d rather have a few “real” cookies.

Your reviews crack me up. Love that u have greedy little helpers to do review with.

merri December 17th, 2009 at 14:41

Yuk! Why not just eat real oreos (double stuff!)? If you crave something chocolatey and oreo-y, just eat the oreos and you’l be satisfied, instead of probably wanting more after eating something trying to be healthy but still not healthy like this. :)

I love these bars, but cannot find them in any local grocey now. What happened? They are great for my chocolate fix!

An exceptionally great post. This short article covers for me what this particular subject depends upon and some of the important advantages that can be resulting from knowing about it as being should you. A friend as soon as pointed out that you have a completely different way of thinking when you do something for several as opposed to when you are just toying by using it. When it comes to this sort of subject, In my opinion you’re taking, or start to think about, a more expert in addition to thorough approach to each what and just how you are writing, which in turn helps you to keep on and get much better and manual others who have no idea something about what you have shared right here. Thanks.
