Taste Test: Quaker Tortillaz Chips
August 19th, 2009 • 8 Comments | Leave a Comment »
Who’s in the mood for fake Doritos posing as a healthy snack? Quaker Tortillaz in Cheesy Nacho flavor sure do talk a good health game. I clearly expected fireworks galore, but all I got was the crackling of bootleg firecrackers. How did I fall victim to these “air baked rice and corn crisps”?
Was it the rice cake-ish flavor? The cheddar cheesy coating? The fun, wavy texture?
Whatever the reason, it had nothing to do with good flavor (because they’re just, eh, okay) and everything to do with that fatal condition called Mindless Chip Munching. It could have happened to any respectable healthy person, so cut me some slack!
This is what it boils down to. The rice cake theme in the shape of a “healthy” chip is great, but Tortillaz lose major points for giving me cheesy finger tips while containing MSG and corn with the germ removed. I shall NOT live a life of mindless chip munching! It won’t happen again,
especially with food that’s not explosively delicious.

I tried these and never finished the bag. There’s something not right about them. I don’t know what it is exactly, but it doesn’t sit right with me.

I agree with Greedy Kid #1, they are more like Cheetos to me than Doritos. I like them as a different snack, not as a comparison to something that you can’t hold a candle to (Real Doritos!).

You are so right, which is all the more reason why the condition of Mindless Chip Munching requires government funding for scientific research.

MSG? *Thumbs down*
I wouldn’t even bother tasting it. And it’s texture looks like my annoying high school pottery project gone wrong. But that’s because I suck at pottery. No offense to the potters… I love pot.
