First came Batman & Robin. Then, Tom & Jerry. But have you caught on to the latest dynamic duo? It's Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bars.
Candy
bar lovers, prepare to be converted by this nutty granola mix of rolled oats,
crisp rice, wheat flakes, and yogurt
powder covered in sweet glaze with a bottom-dipped coating.
Take
a bite for a blissfully chewy experience of slightly salty nuts (huh?),
followed by a sweet chaser of dipped coating delight. It's a definite
change of pace from the "blah, blah, blah" of granola bar eating to
satisfy nut lovers and convert nut haters.
My variety
pack contained the Peanut Granola Bar dipped in peanut butter coating
and the Pecan Granola Bar dipped in nut butter coating. Other varieties
in the Sweet & Salty line include Almond, Cashew, and Roasted Mixed
Nut.
Note: Don't read the nutrition label if you boycott absurd phrases like High Fructose Corny Syrup ("corny" is typo, but lets just
go with it).

Reactions from the Taste Test Crew
Health-hater
Husband – The Peanut Bar reminds me of a Payday candy bar with its sweet
& salty taste and peanut butter creaminess, but it's more of a
nougat creaminess, not traditional peanut butter. The Pecan Bar tastes
like Butter Pecan ice cream. This one is for dessert, not breakfast.
Give it to your kids instead of a candy bar.
Greedy Kid #2 – The peanut butter and nut butter coatings set it apart.
Greedy Kid #3 - It tastes like ice cream on top of a honey bun. (Translation? It's sweet.)
Yum UP! to: Salty, nutty sweetness with better taste and less calories than a candy bar.
Yuck Down! to: High Fructose Corny-ness

I started buying Nature Valley Granola Bars again recently (for the kids) – they’ve been around forever! I like Oats & Honey … and the fact that there’s 2 in one pouch and both are included in 1 serving.
i got nutty for pecans so i will have to give these a try. i’m a fan of their fruit and nut variety. does it really say “corny”!? ha!
I burned myself out on the NV Granola Bars.. may have to try these though.. thanks for the review!

No too bad. I have to find bars with more protein in them when I go for bars although those sound good if you are willing to do HFCS. I don’t eat have that too much in things I eat so I don’t get too worried about it here & there. I am not one that has to have everything perfect. …. Oh, I do love the crown!
Yes! Health-hater husband loves the originals with 2 in a pack. He puts peanut butter on them. I get 60 packages only for $7.99 at BJs Wholesale Club.
ow! Josh lovessssssssss these. What is up with the HFCS-ness though? Totally lame
Yay! Jody (kinda) approves! Score! :~D
The peanut ones are amazing! I agree with you, though, about the fructose thumbs down. Love sweet and salty things and that’s why I make kettle corn!
