Taste Taste: Cinnabon Cinnamon Bread
July 15th, 2009 • 12 Comments | Leave a Comment »
Are there any virgins left? Many have done it. They’ve all had a piece. But this is my first time.
I just ate a slice of Cinnabon Cinnamon Bread!
I’m a lame-o for not knowing about this. It’s been around a long while, but was apparently hidden under a cloak of invisibility for people like me who swore a blind oath to Pepperidge Farms Brown Sugar Cinnamon Swirl. Both brands have the same cool cinnamon swirls and splash of brown sugar, but Cinnabon’s version is way softer (including the end pieces), thicker, and has cool “cinnamon bursts” – pockets embedded in the bread where extra cinnamon hangs out for a smack-me-in-the-face blast of flavor. I don’t agree with the marketing that it’s reminiscent of a Cinnabon Roll – that’s going a bit too far – but it’s good and I’m buying more.
If your calorie counter will allow a brief Greedy Island experience, pop this bread into the toaster and smather it with butter. It’ll be warm and crisp on the outside, yet maintain a slightly soft center due to its thickness. Unless, of course, you toast the hell out of it.
I bet this stuff is perfect for French Toast, but I wouldn’t know firsthand because my hungry spawns kids annihilated the entire loaf in less than 24 hours. What else is new?

Reactions from the Taste Test Crew
Greedy Kid #1: I like this better than Pepperidge Farms, but I wish it had raisins in it.
Greedy Kid #2: Ooo, I like how soft it is. Here, mom, take a bite.
Greedy Kid #4: Only has 2 teeth, but the bread was soft enough for her to inhale.
Yum UP! to: A cinnamon bursting, bread de-virginizing experience.
Yuck Down to: Loaves of bread (and milk) that only last one day.

OMG, my fav flavor of bread! Grew up eating that cinnamon sugar & butter on toast & then the cinnamon swirl breads!!! I would be afraid to bring this in the house cause it would be a treat for me BUT the way my hormones are swinging, may not be able to resist it!!!
Will check on the bread recipe. I have a good book my sis sent to me on easy bread making!

Mmm, never seen the Cinnabon bread. Sounds like it’d be good. Have you ever had the Cinnabon candy???? Now that thing is kinda weird!

I just realized that I live through you when it comes to eating this type of food! I cannot eat anything with wheat, dairy, gluten & sugar so by you talking about it, I know what I am missing or NOT missing! ha ha!

I saw somewhere that you use a cinnabon recipe for your cinnamon rolls. Would you share the recipe?

This bread is ultra yummy!!! For those of us on Weight Watchers, each slice is 3 Points Plus Values (plain) which isn’t too bad since they are sliced rather thick. I have been buying this bread for a while and surprisingly I don’t even miss the raisins!
