Do I Look Fat in This? (Steak Sliders Edition)

Did you hear the one about the hungry Taste Tester who went to Red Robin without knowing how many calories were on the menu? Yep, I did this, and now that Red Robin has released nutrition information on their latest sensation, the Steak Slider, I feel like I’ve been bitch-slapped and spit on by the dish that cost me 2,048 calories.
The Breakdown
1,082 Calories: 3 Steak Sliders - 434 Calories: Steak Fries
- 406 Calories: 1/2 basket Tortillas & Dips
- 126 Calories: Cole Slaw
- 0 Calories: Water
Price Paid: $10.99
Total Calories: 2,048
Since I can’t have do-over and order a salad instead, excuse me while I celebrate the delectable tastiness of this poor food choice. Red Robin sure knows how to make a kick-ass, artery clogging meal! Everything was great, right down to the little cup-o-coleslaw. Steak Sliders come on a soft mini bun with Swiss cheese, Chipotle mayo, and deep fried onion straws (sinister). The sirloin steak medallions are juicy and tender with no fatty gristle. Forget about chopped meat. It’s all steak, baby!
So do I look fat in this?
NOPE! I indulged while enjoying some much needed time with Health-hater Husband and I don’t regret it. I had a blast, right down to the very last onion straw, but I also limit my greedy on most days and train hard all week long. Just take this as a public service announcement to watch those restaurant calories. If uncontrolled greediness and lethargic laziness is a daily event in your life, you will most definitely look fat in Red Robin Steak Sliders.

Hey Josie,
So…a visit to Greedy Island??
Done in moderation…all is good! (maybe I’m trying to justify a planned outing to a baseball game this weekend that will no doubt bring a bit of junk food along with it!). No – in moderation – a bit of this tasty (and loaded with calories) stuff IS okay.
I’m going to find a banana now…

If you plan for it & are good most of the rest of the time, so be it! You work hard at being healthy & I always say, if I plan for a “treat”, I deserve it & no guilt allowed! Good for you! We all know you are back to your normal stuff the next day! How is your tummy feeling though. That stuff sometimes upsets mine.. but man, I love onion rings!

lol… i’d go into a diabetic coma after eating this! honestly, with all the crap i try to avoid because it will take too many damn units of insulin to correct, i’ve successfully taken fries and chips (except for my beloved Pringles) out of my diet for years now.
now those sliders are another story! mmmmm.. lol

Wow, that Red Robin Customizer is really cool. It’s practically a video game! I wish it would show the individual ingredient calories while you were customizing so that I didn’t have to use trial and error to pick the best bun, for example.
At Red Robin, I usually try to either split the burger with someone, or take half of it home. I sometimes even succeed at this.

WHAT! You have the power to split the burger? You’re one tough cookie….chocolate chip or Oreo??
I like the Customizer because it makes those cool noises.

it’s scary.
I know this stuff kills.
But, it looks good.
Like all temptation.
It kills but it sure looks good.
