Taste Test: Wendy's Go Wraps

Gowrap Wendy’s new Go Wraps have obvious flaws, but I’m still keen on this quickie concoction because it delivers acceptable taste at a cheap price. Pick your Go Wrap variety (or pick ‘em all): Spicy Chicken with Ranch Sauce, Homestyle Chicken with Ranch Sauce, Grilled Chicken with Honey Mustard Sauce.

I paid $1.49 for Spicy Chicken, which definitely hit the spot after my 10 p.m. grocery run. It also gets kudos for delivering more substance than McDonald’s Snack Wraps. The meat on the Go Wrap is a little less than 1/2 the size of it’s regular-sized sister sandwich, so that taste is the same, nothing new. According to Wendy’s website, the Wrap comes standard with:

    • Lettuce
    • Shredded Cheddar cheese
    • Sauce (ranch or honey mustard)

But here comes the irritating part. The tortilla was part hard/part chewy, the almost non-existent lettuce was wilted, I couldn’t taste
any ranch sauce (if they even added it), and the seven slithers of shredded cheddar weren’t hot and melted.

Go Wrap vs. Regular-Sized Sandwich Calorie Comparison

320 – Spicy Go Wrap with Ranch Sauce
    440 – Spicy Chicken Sandwich

310 – Homestyle Chicken Go Wrap with Ranch Sauce
    440 – Homestyle Chicken Fillet

250 – Grilled Chicken Go Wrap w/Honey Mustard Sauce
    320 – Ultimate Chicken Grill

*Subtract 35 calories for any Wrap ordered without sauce.

The minor differences in calorie comparison may not be broad enough to convince you to downgrade to a Go Wrap, but I can appreciate the Wrap for taking my hunger pangs away and boasting decent flavor. Despite the character flaws I’ll buy it again.

So what do you think? You goin’ for a Go Wrap?

Yum Up! to: $1.49 meals that satisfy my hunger pangs.

Yuck Down! to: Wondering if I got any ranch sauce … Groceries at 10 p.m.

Its always nice to have a lower calorie grab and go option. Any idea on the fat and sodium in these pups? Love your blog ;)

Hey! Thanks for the compliments. I’ll try to pull that extra info off the Wendy’s website. I was tempted to get TWO Go Wraps today, but I held out until I got home for some corn flakes. I’m getting better at controlling my Greedy gene! Yay me!
