Taste Test: V-8 Fusion Acai Mixed Berry

V8_v-fusion Did someone say “Acai’? No way I’m associating myself with that! I would never be caught ingesting the leading ingredient in weight loss schemes, shams, and scams.

But wait a minute. Acai is a berry. That means it’s a natural food that grows from the earth, right? Just because a bunch of Acai Berry pimps are trying to cash in and exploit this exotic fruit doesn’t mean I have to discriminate. I’m gonna try it.

Sip, Sip, Sip….

V-8 Fusion has never impressed me as a brand to keep stocked in the fridge. The varieties I tried are on the thick side and too vegetable-ish. So why are they promoting this one as an Acai drink if this berry isn’t even listed as one of the main ingredients?

Well never matter that because it’s amazing! I wouldn’t be able to pin-point the Acai if my life depended on it, but I don’t even care. This juice is so smooth and fruity, and leaves a wonderful aftertaste. It also contains sweet potatoes and carrots, but all I can taste is a sweet, fruity concoction of:

  • Apples
  • White grapes
  • Acai
  • Blueberries
  • Lime

I’m amazing at how well these ingredients blend and compliment one another. And I’m sold! It’s definitely not your run of the mill fruit juice. If you’ve never tried V-8 Fusion, or you did, but gave up on the product, now’s the time to start from scratch with Acai Mixed Berry.

Reactions from the Taste Test Crew

Health-hater Husband: I don’t want any of that new age crap. (then he drank some) I don’t like it. Gimme some water and cookies. Quick!

Greedy Kid #2: It’s real fruity. I don’t really taste the veggies that much, which is good. Pour me some more.

Yum Up! to: The best V-8 product I’ve ever tasted … World Healthiest Foods – they’re an authority, so get their perspective on Acai.

Yuck Down! to: Acai Berry pimps. You suck!

hahah- I’m not much of a juice drinker…I’d rather eat some fruit with a glass of water. I think the RDA (although I think there is no RDA for added sugar…the RDA is 0 haha) is a max of 40 g of added sugar per day and this has 26? That seems pretty high….

I hate to drink my calories, but this one I’ll splurge on every once in awhile….and I think I need to start paying attention to those RDAs! Thanks for that!
