Taste Test: Healthy Choice Portabella Marsala Pasta

078 I hooked up the Flavor Finder Radar and set it to full blast. This was my quest to discover the next flavor prodigy in the new Healthy Choice line of All Natural Entrees. That’s when I encountered Portabella Marsala Pasta.

Ooo-la-la. The microwave can’t contain the aroma of the marsala and mushrooms. It smells like a homemade dish. This alone was enough for me to forgive the fontina cheese that melted into a clump (along with most of the parsley garnish) onto the inside of the plastic film cover. I scraped the cheese clump into the food and tried to mix it up but the clump never really broke apart.

I’m amazed at the hearty portion of bella mushrooms in this dish. I’ve never seen such a generous amount in another frozen meal. The mushrooms are good in size, too numerous to count, and their natural flavor blends perfectly with the marsala. I never had the chance to experience the fontina cheese because of the clumping issue, but this was forgiven yet again, this time by visible spice specks that added amazing flavor and a perfect hit of spicy heat. I’m loving it!

All of this goodness is mixed with reginette pasta for 270 calories of greedy tasty pleasure that compelled me to lick the plate clean. But wait! Where’s the chicken? With such a low calorie count Healthy Choice could have upped the ante and added a few pieces of chicken to make the meal more filling.

Unfortunately, I still had lunchtime hunger pangs after munching down on Portabella Marsala Pasta. This put me in eminent danger of a pre-dinner pig out, which is totally unproductive, so next time I’ll eat two of these on a workout day (if I can find them on sale).

I will have to keep in mind for my hubby that does NOT eat like me! I just wish there was more protein in some of these meals but you made it sound good!
