Taste Test: Kellogg's Jumbo Krispies

I heard this was out but thought, “Eh, so what. It sounds like a flop”. But the touch of honey description made me curious. I gave up Honey Combs two years ago and Jumbo Krispies gave me hope for similar flavor without so much artificial-ness.
Don’t make assumptions like I did. Jumbo Krispies are NOT giant-sized versions of traditional Rice Krispies. It’s a totally different taste experience worth trying.
This is my 4th (and finally successful) attempt at a Taste Test. The Crew was so high on Jumbo Krispies that the first box was ripped out of my hands and fought for like a pack of wolves, the 2nd box was gone in a day, and the 3rd box was identified by Greedy Radar and literally ripped apart.
Each Krispie is light, sweet, and definitely delivers on the touch of honey claim. Jumbos are not crunchy; they actually melt in your mouth, which may or may not be a good thing. They’re also marketed as multi-grain but I think this might be a stretch since I didn’t taste even a hint of it.
Jumbo Krispies are our new household favorite. I like to eat a bowl about an hour after my post-workout smoothie and sometimes as an evening snack before bed. Despite the fact that they get soggy very quick, Jumbos are addictive and anything is excess will obviously go straight to your fat cells.
Jumbo Krispies notes: 90 calories (1 cup), 3g fiber, 8g sugar, 1g protein
(No, they do not “Snap, Crackle and Pop“.)
Reactions from the Taste Test Crew
Health-hater Husband – Tasty cereal. Reminds me of a Rice Krispie Treat because of the sweetness. Good to have as a snack – not just for breakfast.
Greedy Kid #2 – It tastes like French Toast Crunch but it gets soggy fast.
Greedy Kid #3 - It tastes good but the milk soaks it up too fast like biting into a wet doughnut.
I did confirm that Greedy Kid #3 actually knows what a wet doughnut tastes like.

I used Jumbo Krispies along with marshmallows and butter using the recipe on the back of the marshmallows for rice krispie treats. They were a huge hit with everyone at our Easter get together. We will definitely be making more batches of them. They are better than the traditional rice krispie snack.

I bought a box last week. I felt like I was eating those cornstarch packaging peanuts (with a hint of honey). They tasted nothing like the regular rice Krispies, and they certainly were not crispy getting soggy very quickly.

I bought two boxes recently because they were on sale. It is the WORST cereal I have ever had. Total Crap!! I couldn’t even finish the bowl. I’ve never done that with any food product before. It is even worse than any of the generic branded cereals. I now see why they were on sale.

Despite the sog, I’ll keep eating them…if they ever go on sale again, which they haven’t in my area. They’re stuck at close to $5 a box. say what!?
