I did a double take on my drive into work yesterday as I listened to the radio. The station made a farce of a recent poll posed to women: "Would you rather be called a slut or be called fat?"
And the results? The majority of women answered that they would rather be called a slut. This translates into more women who would prefer to be perceived as having zero morals than to be labeled overweight. What?
I'd rather be overweight and work on myself. Being is a slut is a totally different can of worms. Is there even a cure for slut-ism? Hmmm.

wow
my jaw dropped at that —and yet I shouldnt be surprised given our society huh?
sad sad.
i guess for me, being called a slut means someone is jealous of me, so.. yeah.. i’d take the slut comment over being called far anyday! lol
I see your point, but I looked at it more as being a *real* slut or really overweight. Call me a slut if you’re jealous, but deep down if I know I’m a real slut, that’s a problem.

I just don’t even know where to go with that! Unbelievable!
Our world is so crazy, especially with weight obsession. Insane.
Lol – that’s crazy! Maybe people figured that they were being called a slut – but really weren’t one, so no biggie to them.
Hi! I see you comments on Lance’s blog, so I decided to stop on over today. Glad I did!
This is a very interesting survey….so sad. I think to some women, being called something like that is almost like a merit badge. They feel like they must not be fat if some other woman would consider them a “slut.” Awful thing to say, no matter what the circumstances.
I forgot to mention it, but the results were something like 74% for the sluts. Staggering! lol
Thanks for stopping over Audra!
I think I would rather be called slut. If someone was calling me that, it would be their personal opinion of me, not reality. Besides, who defines what is a slut and what is considered fat?
